I am NM Sham R, a professional chess coach and international tournament player from India with a peak FIDE rating of 2178. I am an Asian Amateur Silver Medalist and World Amateur Silver Medalist, and I have over 4 years of coaching experience helping players improve their chess. Throughout my career, I have represented India in numerous national and international tournaments, gaining valuable experience at the highest level of competitive chess.

I have competed in FIDE-rated tournaments across the United States, France, Spain, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and India, facing strong International Masters, Grandmasters, and talented players from around the world. My tournament experience in Classical, Rapid, and Blitz formats has helped me develop a practical, dynamic style of play and a deep understanding of competitive chess. I am proud to have won several titles and podium finishes, including silver medals at both the Asian Amateur and World Amateur Championships.

For over 4 years, I have been coaching chess through both individual and group sessions, successfully training 100+ students of different ages and skill levels. My coaching philosophy focuses on long-term improvement through structured lessons, practical training, game analysis, and personalized study plans. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my coaching to suit each individual's strengths, weaknesses, and goals.

Apart from tournament play and coaching, I can perform a 10-board blindfold simultaneous exhibition, demonstrating strong visualization and calculation abilities. I have also developed my own unique training materials and structured lesson plans that make learning more effective and engaging. My experience includes preparing students for competitive tournaments and helping them build confidence both on and off the chessboard

My greatest strength as a player is my raw attacking style, supported by strong tactical calculation, dynamic middlegame play, and practical decision-making under pressure. As a coach, I specialize in providing personalized training tailored to each student's needs. I use my own unique teaching materials and practical tournament experience to simplify complex concepts and help students improve efficiently, whether they are beginners or competitive tournament players.
